Japan had always been one of the United States' tough rivals in Women’s Soccer. In front of a record-setting crowd of 50,644, they battle in the SheBelieves Cup semi-final. It didn’t start great for the United States as they gave up a goal in the 1st minute. Kiki Seike would score off the rush to give Japan a 1–0 lead. The United States would take over the play and Sam Coffey gave a pass to Jaedyn Shaw to tie the match at 1.

Coming out for the second half the United States would take over and had several near misses. Lindsey Horan would have one of those chances. The Captain would score on a penalty kick in the 77th minute to give the United States a 2 to 1 win. With the win, The United States will take on Canada on Tuesday night in Columbus, Ohio. It will be a rematch of the CONCACAF W Gold Cup final the U.S. won on penalty kicks.
