Disappointment

The United States had their last Group match against Mexico. They had a chance to finish 1st in Group A. It was a tough night for the United States, and they trailed 1–0 at halftime. Jacqueline Ovalle would score off a U.S. turnover in the 38th minute. The United States looked sloppy and out of sync.

There were many substitutions, but the United States could not get the tying goal. Mexico would score in 90+2 minutes when Karen Luna would set up Mayra Pelayo. Mexico won the match 2–0, the second-ever win over the United States. It was the first win since World Cup qualifying in 2010. The United States already qualified for the knockout round and will play this weekend.
