The Baltimore Ravens had a good half leading the Steelers 17 to 7 at halftime. The defense stepped up in the second half with two late stands in the 4th quarter. They had forced 4 turnovers and had 4 sacks, one of them was a 33-yard interception return for a touchdown by Robert Spillane. They dealt with injuries to Tyson Alualu and Cam Heyward during the game. This was a character game and proved they can win when they are not at their best for sixty minutes.
Ben Roethlisberger had a sub-par game throwing for 182 yards and 2 touchdowns. The running game was also sub-par with James Conner going for 47 yards and a touchdown. Juju Smith Schuster had a good game with 7 receptions for 67 yards. Credit the Ravens defense for stopping the Steelers offense for most of the game. Special teams were okay with Jordan Berry punting the ball well, but no big returns from Ray-Ray McCloud. Credit the Ravens kicking game for not allowing the big play.
The Steelers won this game 28 to 24 and they are 7–0, their best start since 1978. However, the running game was 48 yards total, and the running defense gave 265 yards to the Ravens. They have to improve that next Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium with a 4:25 P.M. kickoff.
